The Season of Giving With Your Children
The Season of Giving with your children is so amazing.
In our home, we spend a lot of time through the year helping out when we can. It’s fulfilling for us and fills our cups. We also get so much joy in seeing the happiness on our kids faces, especially, when they now they’ve helped someone or made someone’s day.
Despite the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we feel blessed.
The Holiday season means so many things to so many people. To many people, this time of year is considered the season of giving.
Giving of your time to other people or organizations or donating items that are needed.
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Acts 20:35
We’ve put together a list to top off the season of giving with your children.
It’s not about doing as many service projects as possible during this busy time of year. Rather spending quality time with your children on the service projects you are able to do, teaching the importance of helping and hopefully bringing joy to others.

It's Better To Give Than Receive

Unfortunately, many families and individuals who benefit from these services go without necessities. This is especially stressful for families during the holiday season and temperature changes.
These families may go without basic necessities such as food, clothing, and cold weather essentials.
While other families are barely making ends meat and may need assistance with rising utility bills or their hopes in providing their children with a positive Christmas experience.
If your families budget allows for it, giving food, clothing, coats, blankets and hygiene products is a great way to help fill this void during the holiday season.
Don’t forget these needs for these families often continue throughout the year and can be an ongoing service project for you and your children.
If you are an animal lover, Humane Societies and other animal sanctuaries are often in need of pet friendly products.
Many of these organizations provide wish lists to the public in hopes community members, like you, will help out. This is a great way to assist them in continuing their care for the many animals they provide for.
Hard times do not always fall in the way of financial stress to families. Families may face hardships due to ailing children and family members. This can be especially difficult during the holiday season. Many hospitals and places such as the Ronald McDonald House are other places to check if items are needed.

The True Value of Our Time
- Volunteer with the Salvation Army
- Ask to Volunteer at the Humane Society
- Go Caroling at Nursing Homes and Veteran Homes
- Assist in Setting Up Holiday Decorations with Local Organizations
Time is precious. Whether we are spending it with family and friends, working, or enjoying leisure time.
Many organizations that provide free services to the public often operate on a limited budget. Meaning less funds for paid employees.
Volunteering our time is a great way to assist these organizations and fill this void.

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18
Don’t forget it’s not just about how much we can give in our time and donations. Our children learn valuable lessons through our willingness as families to follow the Lords teachings.
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:1-4
There are so many wonderful service opportunities to do with your children. What are some of your favorite that you do as a family?

I love all of the ideas in the Love Thy Neighbor section! Especially delivering baked goods to others! I love to bake and it’s something I want to instill in my children too. What better lesson than to bake and then give away the goodies!
Thank you so much! We really love baking for our neighbors.
